Headway specialise in brain injury rehabilitation after illnesses such as strokes, or head injuries.  They try to assist people to rebuild their skills and confidence to achieve the best quality of life that they can.  They don’t charge for our services.

Support Groups and Services

Headway run groups and workshops where people can support each other and learn new ways of dealing with the challenges they face. They also run some support groups for family members and offer one-to-one support.

The Headway psychology department facilitates specialised group programmes from their head office off Manor Street in Dublin 7.  For more information call Ciaran Nolan, Senior Referrals Coordinator on 01 810 2098, nolanc@headway.ie.  Ciaran will then send you out an application form.  Groups include;

  • Fatugue Management
  • Memory Group
  • Harbour Peer Group
  • Carers Group.

In Carlow and Tipperary South Headway have support groups for people who’ve had strokes and other brain injuries, and separate groups for family members.

In Dublin, they have a support group for family members of people who’ve had strokes and other brain injuries.

Headway also have a brain injury Counsellor in Tralee who can work with people who’ve had strokes or any family members looking for counselling.
